Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilakji 5 Rupees

This is picture of one of rarest coin Republic India Coins series.
The Reserve Bank of India put into circulation this copper nickel coins of 5 Rupees issued to commemorate the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak.

On the reverse side, the coin bears the image of Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak flanked on the upper periphery with the words "Lokamanya Bal Gangadhar Tilakji ki 150 vi Jayanti".This was actually an error coin, since we never add the word "ji" to the name of the legend, like we never add Gandhiji for Mahatma Gandhi or Neheruji for Neheru. The coins were withdrwan immediately from circulation. That's why this issue has become one of the rarest issue of India.

The later issue of this coin is available in both Ferric Stainless Steel and Copper Nickel variety with correction of "Lokamanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak ki 150 bi Jayanti".
