
For the first time Commemorative Coins in new denomination of Rs 75 is issued.
The denominations Re.1, Rs.2, Rs.5, Rs.10 will also be released for circulation. Re.1 and Rs.2 coins will be of Ferritic Stainless Steel, Rs.5 coin will be Nickel Brass, Rs.10 will be bimetallic and Rs.75 coin will be a Silver Alloy.

The Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh released a set of commemorative coins at the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations of Reserve Bank of India, in Mumbai on April 01, 2010.The Governor of Maharashtra, Shri K. Sankaranarayanan, the Union Finance Minister, Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Shri Ashok Chavan and the Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Dr. D Subbarao were present on the occasion.
